How do you revive a historic building while adapting it for modern use? This was the challenge for Studio Stockholm with the transformation of Moraset 1 into Petit Palä, a new office palace located on Stockholm’s bustling Sveavägen 50. Originally built by an apothecary in the late 19th century as a shop and his own residence, the building required a vision that honored its past yet embraced the future.
By working with the architectural legacy of each floor, Studio Stockholm based the conceptual idea on a variety of environments with distinct characters; from preserved vaults to spacious meeting rooms, a new rooftop terrace, and a communal orangery for gatherings. The project involved careful renovation to preserve what already existed, while also innovating to transform the space into a modern office that meets both today’s and future demands. All within a unified and cohesive concept – Petit Palä, which translates to ‘the little palace.’
