Samfundet S:t Eriks årsbok 2024 Hållbar stad – lösningar, låsningar, visioner
The Perfect Christmas Gift? Are you pondering what to buy as a Christmas gift for clients, colleagues, family, or friends? If you’re considering giving something physical, this book about sustainable cities “Samfundet S:t Eriks årsbok 2024 Hållbar stad – lösningar, låsningar, visioner “ might be perfect. Sixteen contributors share diverse perspectives on potential solutions and future visions for a more sustainable city. Among them, Studio Stockholm Arkitektur‘s Karolina Nyström discusses lessons learned from Fabeges “Återbrukskontoret” in Solna.
Stockholm is often seen as meeting many of the criteria that define a sustainable city. It boasts dense urban development, abundant greenery, an efficient public transport system, and plenty of shared spaces. However, in recent years, the pace of change has accelerated: demolitions, urban exploitation, social segregation, and increased traffic have become everyday challenges. Today, numerous projects aim to reverse these trends, and awareness is growing around eco-friendly alternatives such as reuse, electrification, shared transport, sustainable building materials, and safe outdoor environments. The pendulum is swinging—but it needs to swing faster.
Despite the serious realities we face daily, we are not doing enough to stop the climate crisis. According to the EU, cities generate 72% of global greenhouse gas emissions, account for 75% of all energy use, and drive 80% of economic growth. This underscores the urgent need for a sharp focus on urban environmental efforts. How can this be achieved? How can Stockholm truly become a sustainable city? We at Studio Stockholm are happy to discuss this further. Feel free to reach out to us!
