Challenge

  • Persuade over 90 fashion companies to move from their existing showroom/office in Järla Sjö to a new address.
  • A very tight schedule.
  • Develop a new showroom concept with 10,000 sqm of permanent showrooms as a supplement to the Stockholm Fashion District in Nacka Strand.
  • Create the main meeting spot and business location for the fashion industry in Sweden – a common platform where a mixture of offices, showrooms, meeting spaces, fairs and people can be united.
  • Give the building its own identity while also creating conditions for tenants to highlight their individual brands.
  • Achieve all this on a limited budget. Match the economic conditions with the fashion industry’s needs and high expectations.

Process

  • Develop a comprehensive vision and create a modern interior design concept inspired by galleries and catwalks – designed specifically for the fashion industry and the tenants’ unique needs.
  • Create a flexible, economical building that can be adapted to tenants’ various activities, seasons and needs.
  • Design a consistent canvas based on dull colours which together with interesting materials and textures will create a conceptual feel with a clear link to the fashion industry – without taking over the tenants’ own strong brand identities.
  • Offer tailored solutions to all existing tenants in Järla Sjö.

Result

  • A total of 90 new showrooms/offices in an attractive, unified environment were completed in time for occupancy planned for December 2015 for phase 1 and June 2016 for phase 2.
  • All showrooms/offices leased – a total of 10 000 sqm.
  • Stockholm Showroom is now an established location and brand in the fashion industry.
