Miele and Studio Stockholm have embarked on a collaborative venture to create a global design guide for all of Miele’s offices, showrooms, and training spaces. The collaborative project aims to inspire and support Miele’s teams in leading the industry in terms of quality, innovation, and sustainability. Miele, a world-leading developer, designer, and manufacturer of home appliances, employs over 20,000 people in more than 80 countries.
Miele is undergoing extensive development of its business and organization. In line with the company’s motto – Forever Better – they are seeking an updated office concept to implement across various markets. Studio Stockholm was involved early in the process and is responsible for developing the design guide for Miele’s Northern European offices, showrooms, and training spaces. As a first pilot project, they are also responsible for the design of the company’s new office in Stockholm.
– Miele’s workplaces and offices should always reflect its innovative and pioneering mindset. The spaces are driven by creativity and new ideas, combined with sustainable solutions. Whether you’re in a small or large Miele office, visitors should always get the same sense of their universe. There should be a connection to history, experience, and pride over products, and being at the forefront when it comes to materials and solutions, says Carl Rössner, lead architect at Studio Stockholm.
The design guide focuses on creating new environments and strategies that support a progressive way of working, taking inspiration from changes within the business as well as the world at large. For Miele’s pilot project in Stockholm, Studio Stockholm serves as a strategic partner throughout the process, responsible for evaluating new premises, strategy, brand analysis, design concept, and interior project planning. The goal is to create an efficient workspace, alive with innovation, leveraging Miele’s business knowledge and experience, and Studio Stockholm’s expertise in office and real estate development.
– For us, it was crucial to find a strategic partner who prioritizes quality and long-term cooperation. We are facing an important phase in our development, as we transition from a traditional way of working towards a more modern Miele. It feels reassuring to transform our high ambitions into a physical environment that reflects our values together with Studio Stockholm, says Niklas Mair, CEO of Miele.
Miele is now finalizing negotiations for its future premises, with a move scheduled for Spring 2024.

– This is an assignment that suits us at Studio Stockholm very well. Our experience from technology-intensive companies with high demands on the physical work environment, combined with our ability to handle complex conditions, means that we feel both confident and full of expectations before delivering a directly unique solution that supports Truesec’s business – today and tomorrow, says Carl Rössner, Lead Architect at Studio Stockholm.
Truesec – a Swedish company offering cybersecurity solutions to leading companies and governments around the globe – has grown steadily in recent years and plans for continued growth in the future as well. As a result of this, a collaboration with Studio Stockholm was started in the year 2022 to identify new office premises that enable a growing organization.
When the collaboration is now extended, it means that Studio Stockholm will also be responsible for the development of the premises, located in central Stockholm.
Within the scope of the assignment, Studio Stockholm is responsible for all stages in the process, and special emphasis will be placed on responding to the high security requirements – both physical and digital – that Truesec has on its work environment. All solutions therefore need to be designed with this in mind and the implementation tailored to ensure the right technical and logistical conditions.
The assignment covers a total of 2,400 square meters. The 200 employees will move in in two phases, starting this spring and finishing in autumn 2023.

Studio Stockholm Arkitektur has been awarded the contract to develop 21,000 sqm of office space in the new Sturekvarteret district. “The site’s history, location, and brand make this a unique project, both locally and nationally. Therefore, our ambition is to create a new point of reference in the Swedish office market, with a focus on quality and sustainability” says Alessandro Cardinale, partner at Studio Stockholm.
The local plan for the Sture project was approved during the spring, and work began to accelerate in the block. As part of this, Studio Stockholm has been awarded the contract to develop the office space in the properties located at Birger Jarlsgatan 18 (Marmorhallarna), Stureplan 4, and Grev Turegatan 3-5 (Ostermans), on top of Sturegallerian. The assignment includes strategy and concept development for approximately 21,000 sqm of office space, divided into about 16,000 sqm of new construction and about 5,000 sqm of refurbishment, to be completed in 2026.
– This is a project that fits Studio Stockholm’s project portfolio. It is a large-scale, complex transformation project with high ambitions and within the scope of our specialist areas – commercial development. We are therefore very excited to contribute to the realization of the vision of the new Sturekvarteret, says Alessandro Cardinale.
– For the Sture project, we have chosen partners we know are industry leaders. Studio Stockholm is at the forefront of concept development, office development, and complex transformation projects, so we feel confident that they will create a unique office product for Sturekvarteret, says Carl Johansson, Head of Office Development and Leasing at TAM.

The Swedish life science company Olink is moving into Cykelfabriken in Uppsala – a 7,400 square metre industrial building steeped in local history. Studio Stockholm Arkitektur is the interior architect responsible for the building’s transformation from a multi to a single tenant, and the design focuses on high-tech solutions and human values.
The Uppsala-based biotechnology company Olink Proteomics has experienced rapid growth in recent years and is now preparing for further expansion. This was the rationale behind the decision to establish a new joint headquarters in 2020, to replace the seven different addresses it had previously. Studio Stockholm was brought on board early in the process as strategic advisors in charge of the property’s overall design. The emphasis in presenting the new concept is on reflecting the innovative, high-tech, and human nature at the heart of Olink’s business while also supporting the vision of one Olink – nationally and globally.
– Olink is a tremendously exciting company and a crucial employer for the local business community. Being able to interpret how the life science of the future manifests in the physical environment, both strategically and practically, therefore feels like an equally fun and important assignment, says Karolina Nyström, responsible interior designer at Studio Stockholm.
The new facility will include both laboratory and office space. To allow for a more extensive light intake, the deep body of the building will be opened up between the four floors to make way for an atrium that will serve as the building’s primary vertical communication path. Internally, the concrete beam layer will be sanded and juxtaposed with warm wood panels and stainless-steel sheeting – to act as a laboratory reference. A clear entrance will be created on the exterior, and holes will be punched into the building’s enclosed body to improve daylight penetration and allow the old factory to be reborn as a contemporary workplace.
– This is a huge and important step for our company and culture. Because of our global presence in the high-tech industry, we require a headquarters that fosters the best conditions for innovation and collaboration to stay ahead of the curve. It will be a place where we can all grow together,” says Jon Heimer, CEO of Olink.
Cykelfabriken was the largest bicycle manufacturer in Northern Europe in the min-20th century, and Studio Stockholm has decided to carefully manage and implement the building’s historical attributes in the final design. The former rooftop garden found on the top floor and the marble floor in the former staff restaurant will be restored and preserved, among other things.
– There’s something unbelievably exciting about taking on a property that once housed a local, state-of-the-art industry, which is now becoming a future counterpart. The project is, in many ways, a bridge between two wildly different industries, both of great importance for Swedish exports, albeit with the difference that the great innovation then was bicycles, whereas it is protein analysis today, says Karolina Nyström.
The 450-plus employees are scheduled to move in during the second quarter of 2023.

Pembroke, the global real estate advisor, has commissioned Studio Stockholm Arkitektur to design their Stockholm office. The task entails providing strategic advice, design concepts, and interior design for the company’s existing facilities.
Pembroke Real Estate opened its doors in Stockholm in 2008 and is currently seated at Mäster Samuelsgatan 20. In connection with the development of their roughly 350-square meter office, they are now launching a collaboration with Studio Stockholm, which will initially be in charge of strategy and brand analysis. The assignment will also include design concepts and interior planning in the following stages.
– We are thrilled to have received this trust from Pembroke. Due to their focus on commercial real estate in general and office space in particular, they understand the office’s importance for the employees, the brand, and the business. These are the starting values that suit us very well at Studio Stockholm, which is why we look forward to collaborating to create long-term sustainable solutions for tomorrow’s offices, says Karolina Nyström, responsible interior architect.
The assignment will focus on optimizing flows to bolster well-being and productivity, balancing expressions of professionalism and innovation, and tying the office environment and the urban impression in the outdoor setting together. One of the many things we will develop further is the premise’s unutilized roof terrace. Given the incredibly high standard that generally characterizes the Swedish office market, the hope is that the Stockholm office will be able to serve as an inspiration for Pembroke globally.
– We are very excited to embark on this adventure with Studio Stockholm. Their experience from office development for established real estate companies and global players signifies that we have found a partner that will deliver solutions that support who we are – today and tomorrow, says Kristin Willerström of Pembroke.
The collaboration will begin in late spring 2022 and then continue through autumn.

Studio Stockholm Arkitektur and Svenska Spel extend their collaboration as Studio Stockholm has been commissioned to modernize the company’s headquarters in Visby. The focus of the project is to reform strategies and design an environment that supports a new and progressive way of working as a result of the pandemic – effectively presenting a new interpretation of the Svenska Spel brand.
Studio Stockholm and Svenska Spel initiated their collaboration already in 2014 when Studio Stockholm was responsible for Svenska Spel’s premises in Stockholm. The partnership is now being extended in connection to the headquarters commission in Visby.
Svenska Spel owns the property in Visby and has been on the premises since 1975. Svenska Spel owns the property in Visby and has been on the premises since 1975. The group has developed from handling physical money tickets to a world-class gaming company with tech in focus. They have previously worked partly remotely and the pandemic gave an extra boost to the decision on a fully flexible office that provides the opportunity for meetings in an inspiring environment. The surface is therefore reduced by just over a third, at the same time as existing environments are adapted to the new conditions.
– This is a really exciting project in several aspects. As a state-owned company, making this type of progressive decision does not only mean moving the positions forward in relation to the public sector but also in fact to the labor market as a whole. It is also fun – and important – that this type of investment is made in Visby, and it shows that it is possible to be an attractive employer outside the metropolitan areas, says Marco Checchi, project managing architect and co-founder of Studio Stockholm.
The project includes both design and redevelopment proposals for the property, as well as analysis, strategy, and programming for the modern way of working and a new physical interpretation of the brand and interior design. Through creating variations in the environment, areas optimized for the different teams have been designed, including for the many tech developers. A great focus has been on creating conditions for cooperation and meetings – both physical and in hybrid form – while maintaining flexibility and mobility.
– We are incredibly thrilled to continue this journey together with Studio Stockholm. Thanks to our previous collaboration and Studio Stochholm’s experience from working with large agile tech companies, they understand our needs today, and also how to create future-proof solutions, says Maria Z Furenmo, CHRO at Svenska Spel.
The new office covers a total of about 7,300 square meters, and the 400 employees are expected to move in at the end of the year.
Studio Stockholm Arkitektur expands its ownership as Studio Director Marie Holmberg becomes a new partner. Marie, who joined the studio already in 2015, has in recent years had a key role in the management team with responsibility for planning, personnel, and recruitment.
Studio Stockholm was founded in 2014 by current owners Marco Checchi and Alessandro Cardinale. The studio has grown steadily in recent years and despite the pandemic, revenue increased by 20 percent between 2019 and 2021 while the number of employees grew by 15 percent. Now the ownership is expanding when Studio Director Marie Holmberg becomes a new partner.
– Marie has for a long time made herself a worthy partner. She has been responsible for central parts of our business and is thus an incredibly important person for the studio’s development. Marie understands that the conditions for good architecture are created by running a healthy company and therefore, it feels not only fun but also very natural that she now enters as a partner and deepens her already great commitment, says Alessandro Cardinale.
Marie, who is a trained architect at Lund University, took over as Studio Director in 2019 and has since been part of the management team with special responsibility for planning, staff, and recruitment – areas that she will also retain in the future. In parallel, she has led several of the studio’s larger and more complex architectural projects, such as the transformation of Fleminggatan 20 and the development of Foresta on Lidingö.
– During my years at the studio, we have gone from being a good to a fantastic business. A large part of that journey must of course be attributed to employees and customers, but also to the leadership that Alessandro and Marco stand for. I am therefore really looking forward to continuing to build the studio together, says Marie Holmberg.
Over the past year, Studio Stockholm has received attention for several of its projects, including the assignment for the game developer King, which won Sweden’s Best Desgined Office in 2021, and for the investment company EQT, which in 2022 was nominated for the architecture award Guldstolen.
Studio Stockholm Arkitektur has been commissioned to develop Cirio law firm’s offices at the intersection of Biblioteksgatan and Jakobsbergsgatan. The assignment includes design concept and interior design for the four top floors of the property Vildmannen 7 and moving in is estimated for the autumn of 2023.
The collaboration began in 2020 in connection with Studio Stockholm acting as a partner in the strategy work for Cirio’s future premises and has since assisted through the search and evaluation process. As the work now enters the next phase, the focus is on creating an office environment that reflects Cirio’s position as a challenger in a conservative industry.
- We are incredibly happy about the extension of this collaboration. It is always very exciting to be involved and create a product with the stated ambition to be at the forefront of a certain industry. It is also an assignment that suits us very well, both in terms of our experience of similar projects and what we as a studio ourselves come from, says Marco Checchi, responsible architect, and co-founder of Studio Stockholm.
Through areas that enable cross-functional collaborations between both employees and clients, Cirio want to break the silo structure, and at the same time build an open and inclusive culture. The new office will therefore offer a more dynamic and varied work environment – with a number of different solutions for workflows, meetings and projects – compared to the traditional law firm.
This was also a reason why the choice of property fell on Vildmannen 7 in the prestigious Bibliotekstan. After the fire that destroyed the property in 2017, extensive work has been done to build a new property behind the stone facade. Today’s premises offer large, flexible areas with good opportunities to let Cirio’s brand take its place and support the agency’s expansion.
- We want a partner who can challenge us in terms of both the physical design and the way of working that best meets our business goals. Studio Stockholm has done this with gusto – they quickly won our trust by showing that they want to understand our challenges in depth and thereby create solutions that meet our needs, says Lars-Henrik Andersson, partner at Cirio.
The new office covers 2200 square meters. The move-in for the more than 130 employees is planned for the autumn of 2023.
